30 Day Movie Challenge – Day 18

Day 18 – A Movie That Disappointed You The Most

Suicide Squad

I really wanted to like this movie. The trailer looked fun, the aesthetic and costumes all looked great, and it starred some really good actors. But..it just fell flat. To me anyway.

It started off really good! We got to see backstories of each of the villains, and how they ended up in Belle Reve, which is a maximum security prison where all our superheros send the bad guys they defeat. But as the film went on, everything felt muddled. I felt confused as to Β what they were meant to be doing, and why should we care about it? I also feel like they featured the Joker a lot in the trailer, when he was just a minor character in the film. He literally was in it for like only 10 minutes. As for Enchantress, I’m not really sure what to think of her. Sure she looked cool, but that was it. For me this movie had a lot of style, but not any substance. I mean yes, it’s a superhero movie, it doesn’t need to have a loot of meat to it, but this just left me bored..and confused.

However, it did have an amazing soundtrack!!

But overall, I came out of the movie feeling disappointed, the movie was kind of forgetful for me. I had to read the wiki of the plot to even remember what was happening.

What do you guys think of Suicide Squad?

What’s a movie that disappointed you guys?

  1. I could not agree more with you! I was really disappointed with this one too, it just left me really confused πŸ˜’ But YES the soundtrack was amazing!! xx

    1. It was really confusing! There was so much hype around it, and it just couldn’t live up to it πŸ˜’
But it had so much good songs!! πŸ˜€

  2. I haven’t seen it but I’ve heard it wasn’t that great so I’m not really planning to haha.

    1. Yeah, Suicide Squad was hyped up so much, then it fell flat. Don’t see it, barely anything happens

      1. I won’t! I’ll try to see Wonder Woman and Spider-Man though!

        1. Ooh yes! Those two are great πŸ˜€

  3. It was overhyped. There was no character development within the team. They wanted us to be invested in these characters and believe they became close, but they gave us no reason to. Jared Leto should’ve had more screen time.

    1. I’m with you there David. Way too much hype surrounded it, so we all had really high expectations, and the movie let us down and then some.

  4. It such a letdown considering the hype! Love your blog btw

    1. It really was!! Thanks Jane πŸ˜€

  5. What a bummer. We haven’t seen it (surprisingly because Cam loves all things comic-related), but I also had thought it looked good. Oh well, I think I lean toward Marvel anyway… πŸ™‚

    1. It did look good! That was the problem, the trailer and teasers all looked good, then the movie was just confusing and all over the place which was a shame

      1. That is sad. Maybe once it comes out on Netflix we will watch it. With lowered expectations, it would probably make for decent bored-at-home watching…

  6. I was going to watch it but never did because it got so hyped up and usually, from experience, those are the movies that disappoint you the most. LOL. If you didn’t like it, I honestly don’t think I will either. I would have loved to watch it because the trailer did seem pretty interesting, but I also saw reviews and no one liked the joker lol. He was kind of overdone lol.

    1. Good thinking. We got hyped up and the trailer was good, but the movie was just a mess πŸ˜‚ You’re not missing out on anything by not seeing it πŸ˜€
