My Husband Explains Makeup

Rossy did this post a long time ago, and I recently shared it as one of my favourite posts from her in my Have You Met feature on her. While doing my makeup one morning, Rory was around and I was telling him about the post. We thought it would be funny to put his own knowledge to the test.

I showed him a product, and asked what he thought it was. Neither of us took this very seriously, so prepare for some silly answers πŸ˜€ Rory’s response will be in bold.

Torture tool. Rory has always hated all eyelash curlers. The first time I showed him how to use it, he shuddered and left the room. He still does.

Makeup. As I was applying my BB cream and concealer, I asked if he knew what products I was using, and that was his response. It’s not wrong technically. When I asked him to get more specific in his answer. He said For your face. Again, not technically wrong.

Foundation? I included the question mark, cause he was silent for a while and said his answer like a question. He said he remembered me saying foundation, and took a stab. I said it was a setting powder for the foundation pretty much. He gave himself a point for that one.

You already showed me that one. This confused both of us for a while. They are from the same brand, so they look similar, but they’re different products. But he was still adamant it was the same one as the powder.

What is that? He was squinting for a while, trying to read the words, as I was halfway across the room from him. When I read it out loud, he was still confused. When I finally said it was a highlighter, he kept looking confused. Which is fair, I never knew what it was until a few months ago.

For your eyes. Technically eyebrows, but he called close enough.

Nudes, for your eyes. The word eyeshadow never came out of his mouth, but it’s technically right.

Eyelash bulker. Again, he’s not wrong. It does bulk up the eyelashes.

For under your eyes. I don’t put eyeliner under my eyes, but he was doing the gesture of how I put on eyeliner, so I’ll give it to him.

I want to say lipstick. I showed him the lip crayon on purpose cause I knew it’d trip him up. But he got it right!

Hairspray. I showed him my actual hairspray, and said this spray is for setting my makeup. He disagreed.

All in all, this little process made our morning routine a lot funnier. We were both laughing and goofing around, and became aware that Rory barely pays attention to me makeup routine which is fair enough. Normally as I do makeup and hair, he’s going around the house opening curtains, making his lunch and getting ready himself.

What did you think of Rory’s answers?
