What I’ve Bought Recently (a.k.a. Another Haul)

As always, I like to share with you guys what I’ve bought recently. I like reading/watching hauls from you guys, and frankly I like doing them myself too. So here’s what I’ve bought recently!

Learning Japanese – Hiragana and Katakana Workbooks

japanese workbook

workbook

As mentioned in my 2018 Goals, I’ve been learning Japanese through Duolingo. Well, Rory and I have. Fueled by our future trip to Japan, we’ve been enjoying learning Japanese. The app doesn’t help too much with writing the characters though, so we found these workbooks. It’s been a lot of fun using this on top of Duolingo.

Electronics

Ring Light

I was looking at a few things on Amazon, and this caught my eye. I would love a full size ring light, but those are very expensive. This one is small, handheld, and clips onto my phone easily. I’ve been loving using it to help with lighting when I take my selfies haha!

Clothes

Jeans

jeans

I have a habit of running through my jeans. Especially in the cooler seasons when I wear them on a daily basis. Due to my job though, they tend to get ripped and worn, and only last a few months. So while thrift shopping, I came across these two blue jeans. I liked that they’re not the usual dark blue colour I have for my jeans. They’re very comfy and I hope will last a while.

Workout Clothes

Again, as part of my 2018 goals, I wanted to work out more regularly. I’ve been doing well with this, but sometimes it’s hard to motivate myself. We went shopping and there was a sale at Cotton On. I loved the high waisted shorts, as I only have long workout pants which I hate using in summer especially. I also decided to get a blue singlet as there was a 2-for-1 deal thing happening.

Black Ballet Flats

shoes

Like with jeans, I have a habit of going through ballet flats. They’re fairly cheap, and tend to be seasonal with me. I haven’t bought any new ones this summer so far, so I figured it was time. These are really comfy and I’ve started wearing them almost everyday.

Makeup

Lipsticks

lipsticks

I bought a pink MAC lipstick online, along with a set of six NYX Lingerie mini lippies. I don’t have too big of a range of lipsticks, and these were cheap, so I gave them a go. The MAC one is a pink shade, and the NYX are a mixture of nudes (browns, purples, peach, etc).

Tarte Shape Tape Concealer

tarte concealer

I’ve been wanting to try this concealer for the longest time. I help back for a few reasons, mostly that I couldn’t try find my shade in store. I matched it with my Bare Minerals concealer and went for a medium. It matches my skin tone perfectly and does a good job of covering my undereyes and blemishes. It also dries well and doesn’t leave streaky marks which I really appreciate.

Colour Pop Yes Please Palette

I had been eyeing this up for the longest time. I love the colours! They’re based off ‘magic hour’, so the colours are all bright and golden, and I can’t wait to get into them!

That’s all I’ve bought recently! What have you guys bought lately? Have you tried any of these products?

Angela.

  1. yayy, great buy. no face mask?

    1. Thanks! I’m not really a fan of face masks, so I don’t tend to buy them ?

      1. I hauled them, 14 at once off online site. woking for me 🙂
sorry went a lil crazy and purchased a lot at once.

  2. I love those jeans, totally agree that the blue color is cool! definitely a bit different ?? love those nyx lippies as well!

    1. Right! It’s nice to get something a little different every now and then ?

  3. A good selfie is hard work 😉 love the ring light, xx

    1. It really does take a lot to get that one good selfie ??

  4. Now what is that ring light for selfies? Does it really work?
It’s such fun to learn a new language, isn’t it? How is it going so far with Japanese? xx

    1. The little ring light is fun to play around with. Not as strong as a real ring light though. I just love turning it on and off in a dark room. It’s become a toy to me lately ??
Japanese is going well and slow! There’s a lot to take in, and it’s mostly just learning a tiny bit then hammering it in my head with lots of revision ?

      1. Well at least you are going to go beyond Arigato 😉 Enjoy the process of learning. xx

    2. I was like “ring light? For selfies? What?”

      1. Must just be me who’s heard about it then lol. It’s meant to help with lighting since it’s in a ring, so it’s like direct light which is meant to help if you don’t have good lighting in general but want to take a selfie 😀

  5. So many cute lippies and I adore that eyeshadow palette

    1. Thanks McKenzie! I love splurging out on makeup every now and then ?

  6. The MAC and NYX lippies look awesome! You’re becoming a real little beauty blogger aren’t you lol 😛

    1. They really do! Haha, I really am loving exploring all this makeup stuff 😀

  7. Fabulous picks!

    1. Thank you! 😀

  8. Love your haul!

    1. Thank you! ?

  9. Why do I always forget to show you guys the things I buy? I LOVE to see hauls and then I forget to do my own, which is something I think I’d like. I’ve actually never bought any jeans or pants at a thrift store, just tops, cardigans and sweaters. They never have that much space to try things on and it’s too confusing to look for sizes. We wear the same shoe size, by the way. I mean, I have some 36, 37 and 38 but mostly the latter. Love your haul. Oh, I almost forgot. I had this perfect green concealer (rosacea and redness are my issues) and I lost it somewhere lol it’s pretty cheap so I need to get a new one. Thankful this anti redness BB cream I wear right now (recommend by my dermatologist) has great coverage so I don’t even need concealer , especially if I apply a layer of powdered foundation on top ?

    1. Haul posts are so much fun!! I’m always keen to see what random things people have bought! You should definitely start keeping an eye on what you buy lately and turn it into a haul post 😀
I know my general size when it comes to both tops and pants, so I grab a bunch and go and try them all on. I normally wind up with quite a few things I want to buy 😀 It does get a bit confusing though, but I always end up spending hours there regardless.
It’s always great when you find a really good concealer that works well for you! I’ve tried a few, and some are really good, some aren’t 😀

  10. Cool post Angela! 🙂

    1. Thank you 🙂

  11. Lots of goodies here. I’d love to find the NYX lingeries mini but they don’t really have that here lol.
I also would love to try the shape tape concealer but it’s PRICEYY!!
And I’m also practicing my hiragana and katakana in my random notebook but these workbooks would come in handy too 🙂

    1. Thanks Rossy! I found the minis through a trading site we have down here, otherwise they’re just the full sizes in stores.
The concealer was pretty pricey, but I saved up directly for it! It’ll last for a while though 😀
I was starting to find it tricky free writing the symbols, so I wanted a workbook with all the grid stuff to help me get it better 😀

      1. Ahhh that makes sense 😀 haha they’re still nice though, you can make up with your mind with tiny samples like that 🙂
I still want to try it, but ahhh….we’ll see maybe in the future LOL.
Yeah i can* be tricky, I had a hard time too LOL

  12. The learning hiragana book is very helpful! When I was learning Japanese I found it very helpful to relate each character to something in english. For example る (ru) = RUby because of the little circle. ろ (ro) = RObber took the ruby because there is no circle.

    1. It really is! Repetition seems to be key with figuring out how to write it down. That’s a helpful tip, thank you 😀

  13. By the way, if you want help learning Japanese characters I’d be more then happy to help you. (just shoot me an email- prettypeachreviews@gmail.com) I studied Japanese in uni as an elective for about 3 years. It’s quite hard to learn Hiragan and Katakana but once you learn it you’ll never forget.

    1. Thank you for the offer! We’re pretty happy learning through Duolingo, as it’s a casual hobby, but if we want to get more serious about, I’ll definitely keep you in mind 🙂

  14. So many amazing things! I really want a ring light too, it would help me with so many things, but yes they are so expensive ☹️ Also that colorpop palette looks absolutely stunning, I love the shades it includes! xx

    1. One of those proper ring lights seem like they would help with photos so much!! But yes, they are definitely not cheap :/
I love the palette! The colours are all so bright and remind me of a sunset 🙂
