If We Were Having Coffee (June Edition)

Another month, another coffee catch up! I missed this last month, what with getting back from Japan and all. It just passed me by, but now I’m ready to sit down and catch up on things. So, grab whatever beverage you want, and let’s do this!

If we were having coffee,Β I would talk about how much I miss our Japan trip. The post holiday blues are on their way out, but every now and then I do wistfully think back on our trip. The warm weather, the new places to explore, and the fact that we didn’t have to worry about chores.

If we were having coffee, I would talk about how much I’m loving working on all my indoor activities. I recently completed a 1000 piece puzzle and it was so much fun! It only took a few days and I’m keen to redo some of my older puzzles. I’m working on a Harry Potter one at the moment. I’ve also started really getting into cross stitching again. It’s just so calming and I always feel so happy and at peace when I do it. I finished my little hot air balloon one that I bought at the beginning of the year. I found my old bag filled with other kits I haven’t touched yet. It’s pretty much what I do for most of my time at home now.

If we were having coffee, I would say that I’m getting into home workouts again, but mostly yoga. Just yoga actually. I’m finding it more enjoyable than any of the previous cardio or strength exercises. I’ll get back into those eventually though. I’m trying out the 30 Days of Yoga with Adrienne, and I’ve been sticking to it really well! I’m halfway through and once I’m done, I think I’ll try some of her other ones she’s done too.

If we were having coffee, I would tell you we’re adopting a cat! We’ve been talking about getting a pet since we bought our place. But first we wanted to settle in, then we went to Japan, so it kept getting pushed back. These past few weeks we’ve been visiting rescue shelters around town, and seeing the animals. We knew we wanted a cat, preferably more of an indoors one as we live near a busy street. We found a gorgeous black cat called Shadow at one of the centres. She’s 2, and they don’t know too much about her since she was just dropped off at the centre. She’s quite shy and keeps to herself (she pretty much stayed hiding in her corner while the other cats zoomed around), but we got along really well when we visited. We just hung out with her in her corner and she was just so sweet! She still needs some vaccinations so she’s staying at the centre for a few more weeks till we can take her home. We plan to visit her every weekend until then.

Now it’s your turn, what’s been going on with you guys this past month?

  1. Such a cute hot air balloon cross stitch! Do you have anywhere online you like to get kits from? I’m trying to get back into cross stitching but haven’t found a ton of online stores I’ve liked. Would love a recommendation!

    1. I found the hot air balloon one in a crafts store! They normally have a few you can choose from, but mostly I look online. I have a local trading site in NZ that often sells cross stitch kits. It’s kind of similar to eBay, maybe try there πŸ˜€

  2. I love your cross stitch! So amazing that you’re getting a cat too! I’m moving soon and have to leave my cats with my mum because our flat won’t allow them 😞 This past month I’ve been sorting everything for moving mainly! I’ve started playing the ukulele though which I’m really enjoying!

    1. Thank you so much! My husband and I have been thinking about getting a pet for ages, so we’re really excited that we’ll be able to adopt our cat soon! That’s sad that you have to say bye to your cats, but at least you can still see them when you visit your mum πŸ™‚
I love playing the uke, but I haven’t touched it in months now! I should try get back into it πŸ˜€

  8. That cross stitching is adorable. And oh my god, how exciting! Are you keeping the name Shadow or think you’ll change? The name Shadow instantly makes me think of the dog in Homeward Bound – love that film! I cry everytime.

    1. I love the hot air balloon cross stitch! It came out so cute πŸ€—
We love tbe name Shadow! She’s a black cat who likes to hide so it feels like the perfect name πŸ˜„
I forgot about that movie!! I watched it as a kid, but since i never had a pet growing up, it didn’t make too much of an impact on me πŸ˜‚

      1. I just made the mistake of watching all the sad/heartwarming scenes on YouTube… πŸ˜’ now I’m a snotty, swollen mess. I’m blaming you for it too πŸ˜‰

  15. I love Yoga with Adrienne. She’s one of the most professional, fitness Youtubbers out there. If I’m ever doing yoga, I will watch one of her videos. Your cat sounds really cute, and don’t worry about post-holiday blues. You will be in the sunshine again in no time, while everyone else moans about the cold! πŸ™‚

    1. She’s so good! I’ve really started enjoying doing yoga while following her videos!
Haha, that is true. Soon enough we’ll swap seasons again πŸ™‚
